if you find a solar controller at a flea market is there a way to test it without hooking it up to a panel?

brand name, model number? The inexpensive simple ones usually connect to battery first, so you could at lease see if the display or LED's light up.

I know, cheap enough that I have 7 cheap controllers now. three hf's two of the 30 amp from china that are hard to read and understand the manual's but they do work. and two of the 30 amp coleman/sunforce controllers that work better and have a digital readout, I like them better. but I was just wondering if anyone knew of any basic checks or tests that could be done to a controller? just for giggles.

Wow you sound just like me. I too have a mix of CC on Bench and in service. I dont have an answer for field testing other that hooking it up to a portable panel or Batt.Let me know how this one ends
Have a great day and God bless you.
